On September 15th, 2023, Aurora Mayor, Mrakas, pledged to build 8,000 residential units by 2031 in a letter to the provincial government. The housing pledge was approved on September 26, 2023 by Council. Concerns have been raised about possible misinformation provided to residents regarding the development's status.
